Two New FMs and an Update
- 2:57:03 PM - Biohazard
Today we have two new FMs, Gearheart and Saints and Thieves.

Thief 2 Fan Mission
Gearheart

 Filesize: 0.87 MB
 Released: 8/28/2005

By: Bronze Griffon

Plot Description: Gearheart Temple is a recent building in this part of New Quarter and the Mechanists seem to be a pretty influential organisation especially with all the rumours about how much money they have. With the Watch struggling to keep the peace with the local Cotton Mill Protests tonight seems just right to see to how wealthy these new fanatics truly are.

Additional Comments: Special thanks: To my family for putting up with my devotion to Thief.

Plot Description: Sheriff Truart has begun his personal vendetta against the City's crime element and I'm on the top of his Most Wanted list. Jobs have been scarce - although most of the fences would gladly offer me any jobs they have, the fact is that there aren't all that many of them around anymore. What comes to my thefts, I've been clutching at straws lately. Luckily one of my sources has dropped me a very... lucrative hint. After this job I can keep a low profile for a while. I've never been much in to organised crime. I'm in this trade to profit myself, and the idea of funding some lazy godfather figure pulling the strings in the shadows doesn't really seem all that intriguing, something that my old friend Ramirez had to learn the hard way. But, as they say, there's no honor among thieves... (More)

A Love Story II has been updated to version 1.2. Thanks guys for your work and dedication!

FMs: Two Sequels and a Remake
    - 11:48:35 AM - Dan
We have three FMs for you this Sunday morning. The first one, Rodamill, is the second mission in The Greyfeather Gems series by Maria Ström-Bestor (Morrgan), though I happen to know that Vigil helped a bit too. You may want to check out the first mission in the series, The Shipment, before you give it a go. Congrats you two!

Plot Description: Some years ago, the mining town of Rodamill was devastated by an earthquake. Little is known about the event as the town has been cut off ever since - but it is believed the entire population perished, and that the wealthy estate of Greyfeather Hall lies buried with its Lord, the owner of the lucrative Greyfeather Mines.

His brother inherited the mines following this tragedy and has now sold them to the Mechanists, who plan to excavate the town, mines and estate and to claim any salvage they find there. But, the new Lord Greyfeather wishes some heirlooms to remain within the family, things too valuable and too sensitive to barter with the Mechanists over. Hence, he has hired Garrett to recover these items with as little commotion as possible.

In the first part of the series, Garrett hitched a ride with a Mechanist shipment to Rodamill. The shipment, along with its unexpected cargo, has now arrived at the ruined mining town. Now, Garrett must find the mines and a way into Greyfeather Hall beyond them.

Additional Comments: This is the 2nd part of a 3 mission series. I recommend that you play the 1st part called "The Shipment" before this one.

Please make sure you have fog turned on for this mission.

Secondly, The Burrick’s Head Inn, Vintage Edition is an odd little re-release of a contest mission that features sepia-toning, and artwork and movies from the early 20th century go give a sort of ‘roaring 20s’ feel to the mission. Being a fan of that type of music, I gave it a shot, and the menu tune alone made me giddy. Nice one, Yandros!

Plot Description: As usual, the rent is due... but this time I also owe a few shopkeepers for some equipment I had to buy on credit, so I'd better go for a bigger haul than usual. There's a rustic little inn I've hit a couple of times before called The Burrick's Head. The decor is upscale, so there should be plenty of trinkets and valuables lying about... not to mention what the guests bring with them, which should be significant since the inn caters to the nobility.

As an added bonus, the papers the other day mentioned a noble lady staying there who had just inherited a fortune. Seems the estate includes a gigantic sapphire called The Angel's Tear. I'm sure it's safely tucked away somewhere, but if the opportunity presents itself, I'll have to go for it. According to the news story it's insured for 50,000 crowns, so it would mean I could take a few years off thieving and actually enjoy life for a while. That is, if Cutty can find a buyer for such a well-known valuable. But then, that's never been much of a problem for him before...

    Additional Comments:
    1. This is a re-release of v2.0, but everything is in an old-fashioned sepia tone. The artwork and music have been changed accordingly to suit the time period (early 20th Century).
    2. The large Easter Egg area is gone. In its place is a very small one. The way in has changed, so have fun finding it.
    3. I adjusted some of the sound files to make the mission load faster and waste less disk space.

Finally, John Denison has also released a sequel, this one to A Love Story, with his aptly named, A Love Story II. This one’s a bit of a bigger download, but there’s screenshots of his work on his homepage to help entice you.

  • By: John Denison

Plot Description: You have just arrived at your old apartment to find all of your stuff is gone. The landlord must have evicted you while you were in jail. To make matters worse, the girl you took the ring to wasn't really Jeni at all. Apparently she moved to Victorian Estates while you were in jail.

The first objective is to get the ring back. It shouldn't be too hard considering you were just there earlier and the city is completely accessible... at least until the city becomes aware...

The second objective is to get to John's house and wait for further instructions in the basement.

A big thanks to the dromeders who spend years and years on these things, and happy downloading and thieving to the rest of us who reap what they sew!
