By: Schwaa (J. Knez)

Plot Description: Garrets original mission was to break into the New Order of the Mechanists Prison and steal Sherriff Truart's Silver Cog. This is a medal awarded to him by Brother Karras for his devoted work for the Master Builder. It sounded risky ( and turned out to be) but it paid well so Garret went for it. Bad mistake. Now it is time to escape, luckily with a little help from the inside.

Hammer Score: 4.5 of 10
Comments by Reviewer:
  • Pros: Good gameplay design, on the whole.
  • Cons: May seem repetitive, since many of the areas of this particular jail look alike and require similar strategies.
  • Bottom Line: Certainly a good download, if you enjoy missions of this type. It's not the best in the prison-escape genre, though.

    By: Duncan Cooke (The Deceiver)

Plot Description: Garrett is holed up in an old Keeper safe house. His activities in his local part of the city has drawn him too much unwanted attention. He is now low on funds and equipment and must venture out to resupply. There have been a number of recent murders that have caused the city watch to increase their patrols around this sector of town. They should not be a problem for one such as himself.

    Comments by Jeremy Mitchell:

  • Pros: Excellent streets and layout with plenty to do and see, fluid gameplay, good atmosphere.
  • Cons: Underdeveloped interiors, scrounging for loot, undead impervious to weapons.
  • Bottom Line: A worthy effort by Cooke that provides an enjoyable mix of thievery and exploration with a few surprises. More than enough to occupy the avid thief.

Plot Description: What that woman paid in bribes to find me had to be no small amount. She began to speak as she deposited two large and shining gems on the table. "I will give you half dozen more if you discover what has happened to my bridegroom" -she situated herself in a chair and continued- "His name is Saturio Machado. He returned barely one week ago after having fought for months in a war in the Hilldrim territories. We spent the night of his return together in my house. The following day he rose early, eager to go to his family's mansion because his mother was ill, and had been for a long time. That was the last time that I saw him. Concerned, I went to the authorities since I did not wish to face Lady Machado... she never accepted my relationship with Saturio. Much to my surprise, the cops told me that Sigfrido, the nephew of Lady Machado had informed them that according to the news received from the front, Saturio had died in combat weeks back. The authorities did not have reason to doubt his word and thus they let me know. Something has happened behind those walls Mr. Garrett. You have to help me."

Plot Description: After Garrett steals the Spirit Stone from the hideout of the Resurrection, the Hammers, in need of all the help they can get with the Mechanists, demand it back. Likewise, the Keepers are interested in protecting it themselves, since they were the ones who told Garrett about the job in the first place. However, before Garrett gives it to either, he is interested in finding out exactly what the Spirit Stone is and what its powers are. He spends some time researching its origins, and finally learns how it was found. At the outskirts of the city, amidst some of the rocky, mountainous territory at the edges of civilization, some five years prior, the Hammers had begun to build a large power facility and smelting factory. However, in laying the foundation, they discovered a series of tunnels and caves beneath where they were planning to build. Temporarily ignoring them, they continued to build the facility, whilst sending occassional informal scouts below further and further to map and report back their findings. Eventually, some of the Hammers discovered the remnants of an ancient pagan underground church and living area. Thinking there might be relics of value, and perhaps blasphemous artifacts to destroy, the Hammers organized an official search party to go deep into the caves and return with any artifacts they could find..... By: Mike Hopper

Plot Description: Briefing (english only) : Before his encounters with Truart and Karras, as told in T2-TMA, Garrett knew well the plotting nature of these fellows. They both worked with Lord Gervasius on his archery games every year and there were whispered rumors that the games were no longer "for sport" with these two involved. But I'll let Garret explain: "Lord Gervasius is one of the wealthiest men in the world and he loves archery. For many years, he has invited the best archers in the world to travel to his Archery Games to compete for elaborate, and expensive, prizes. There is great competition to be recognized as the best archer in the world and Lord Gervasius plays this like a real showman. In recent years, this competition has grown to include many offbeat archery games and contests, and the games extend over several days. Crowds flock to these events--Lord Gervasius earns a lot wealth and influence as a result. Although it's not cheap to get in, every arena seat is always filled. More than just popular, these games are a spectacle for the fans who are drawn here. I've been and it is impressive.... (more)

Plot Description: I love stealing from that old goat Rumsford and generally being a major thorn in his side. But this time it wasn't easy getting this high priced trinket from his possession. I took a couple crossbow bolts in the process of fulfilling my fence's contract and have had to spend the last few days recovering from my wounds. But what pains me most is that the buyer can't pay the full amount. According to my fence, the buyer is Lord Montague and he won't be able to pay up until his next shipping convoy comes in at the end of the month. No other buyers are offering anything close to Montague's offer so it looks like I'm going to have to hold on to the thing for another few days.

But if only things were that simple.

I just got wind that someone's been hired to assassinate ol' Montague. If that happens, I'll never get paid and all my risk and wounds will be for naught. The assassin is Alex the Gray, another thief in town who's earned both my respect and a little resentment as he beat me to the job's prize a couple times before.

To complicate matters even further, I can't just stop the assassination, I have to do it discretely. Alex is a member of the Black Scorpion Society, a triad that takes honor and revenge very seriously. If they found out it was me who spoiled their plans... well, let's just say I don't need people like Alex keeping me on the run.

Montague's castle is built along the cliffs of the river bank just East of the city. I'll start in his vineyard and try to pick up Alex's trail so I can head him off before he hits Montague. When I find Alex, I'm going to have to incapacitate him somehow so he can't complete his mission.

This is more effort for my payment than I was expecting. Sorry Alex, but you are ruining my plans. Nothing personal, it's just business.

    Review by Marecki:

  • Pros: Good story, nice architecture, an interesting side objective
  • Cons: Strictly linear, lots of retracing one's steps, things that can be "tricked" into working improperly
  • Bottom Line: While this mission certainly is a piece of hard work, it looks rather unimpressive when compared to some of the others that have appeared lately. Furthermore, although it is quite rigid it doesn't impose it too well, possibly leading to non-fatal yet nonsense situations. Playing this mission is nothing one may regret later, but neverthless I perceive "Embracing the Enemy" as a step back from "Bloodstone Prison".
